Hello,

I am DACAR, a Guatemalan sound engineer who made his hobby of photography his main profession.

It all started when my parents gave me a film camera to play with, which sparked a certain interest in photography since I was little. My first developed photo was some small flowers from my grandmother's garden, we still keep the photo as a memory of the beginning of everything.

While I grew up leaving photography aside, I was always surrounded by art and literature. My grandfather painted in line art as did my mother. They instilled art in me, which led me to study violin, which was my second passion. And once in a while I wrote more than one poem that ended up in a notebook full of dust at home.

As I grew older, I decided to study sound engineering, an incredible profession, full of art, characters and anecdotes. Photography was always hand in hand with this, since I maintained a close relationship with it, as I documented my events at every moment.

After finishing my degree, I decided to work on it just when the Covid Pandemic visited us all. This led me a little further towards photography.

During a trip to the Chikabal lagoon, after many anecdotes and laughs, I met two of the most influential Guatemalan photographers in my career. We became friends. Thanks to their advice, support and expertise, I decided to study photography professionally, without thinking that all this would lead me to make a living from it and work with international brands such as BMW Motorrad, Indian Motorcycles, Triumph, Royal Enfield, Segway & Polaris. National brands such as Cerveceria Gallo, Cerveceria Zapote, Utz Pin Pin, Campero and countless others.

This is a little of the magnificent story of how I got to all this.

We will continue writing new stories, collecting anecdotes and documenting this entire journey through photography.
